WARRENSBURG, MO – Entering its third consecutive year at the Å·ÃÀÊÓƵ, UCM Esports, led by Interim Varsity Director Kordell Ballard and Founder Steven Shattuck, began the 2021 fall semester with a signing ceremony to recognize students on six different teams, each named for different video games.
WARRENSBURG, MO – UCM Esports, a competitive gaming team at the Å·ÃÀÊÓƵ that continues to grow in popularity since its inception in 2019, will conduct a Super Smash Bros Ultimate tournament 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1. The tournament is being coordinated in cooperation with the United States Army National Guard and Central Missouri Intramurals and will feature a total prize pool of $1,500 for top participants.
Part of the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE), UCM Esports began in the fall 2019 with team members playing other competitive college-level teams in games such as Overwatch, League of Legends and Rocket League. In the fall 2020 season, UCM Esports added Rainbow Six Siege, NBA2K, Super Smash Brothers and Valorant to their line-up of games.
Å·ÃÀÊÓƵ Esports will host and participate in an NBA 2K21 Tournament beginning Thursday, Oct. 29. The tournament will feature 11 to 12 player teams and will run for approximately one month.
Cody Bruckerhoff, s a student member of the Å·ÃÀÊÓƵ’s new Esports team, has received the Collegiate Shoutcaster of the Year Award for 2019-2020 presented by the National Association of College Esports.
