What you will study
Learn problem-solving and analytical skills in the 欧美视频鈥檚
BS in Mathematics degree program. Our undergraduate courses teach you how to communicate
mathematical ideas and apply theories to real-world scenarios.
Take courses in calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, topology and modern
algebra to learn how to perform a wide range of mathematical functions. You鈥檒l also
study statistics, discrete mathematics, probability, graph theory, combinatorics and
data analysis to understand how to apply math to solve problems.
Finally, gain knowledge focused on what to do with a Math degree and how mathematics
can be applied to business in classes such as:
- Principles of Data Mining
- Mathematics of Finance
- Regression Analysis
- Computer Programming
Excellence in Mathematics
- Mathematics faculty at the 欧美视频 lead local and national
efforts to improve instruction in mathematics and research.
Unique learning opportunities for the degree in Mathematics
Take part in activities outside the classroom to practice your mathematics and problem-solving
skills.
- Internships: Get a feel for what it鈥檚 like to apply mathematics in the workplace. Use UCM鈥檚 Career and Life Design Center to find internship opportunities that show you what to do with a Math degree. Some
Math majors even get full-time job offers from their internships before they graduate.
- Undergraduate research: Work on a research project alongside a faculty mentor with expertise in your area
of interest. Get experience performing research, writing up your findings and submitting
work for presentation at conferences and professional events.
- Student life: Join classmates who share your interests. UCM鈥檚 student organizations host guest speakers, organize competitions and encourage networking. Math majors
often participate in UCM鈥檚 student chapter of the Mathematical Association of America
and the Missouri Beta Chapter of Kappa Mu Epsilon, the national mathematics honor
society.
