UCM Professor of Trumpet Dr. Alan Wenger Presents Faculty Recital Sept. 26

Dr. Alan Wenger, 欧美视频 professor of trumpet, will present a faculty recital at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26 at the First United Methodist Church in Warrensburg. The program, titled 鈥淧ortraits and Prose: Musical Depictions for Trumpet and Organ,鈥 will feature works for trumpet and organ that depict events, visual art, or or literature. Dr. Wenger will be joined by guest organist Dr. Donna Hetrick and UCM Professor of Voice Dr. Jacob Sentgeorge.

Their terms begin immediately with final confirmation pending state senate approval when the General Assembly reconvenes in January.

UCM in Position of Strength, Aided by Robust Fall Enrollment and Positive FY24 Budget Outlook, Best Says in State of the University Address

Citing factors that include an overall increase of approximately 10% in fall student enrollment, an operating budget that is 5.25% larger than the previous fiscal year, and a strategic plan that guides the institution, the 欧美视频 is in a position of strength. That is the message President Roger Best shared with faculty and staff when he presented his annual State of the University remarks on Sept. 14. The president鈥檚 sixth consecutive SOU address since his 2018 appointment by the Board of Governors took place in the James L. Highlander Theatre.

The theme for this year鈥檚 conference on Monday, Sept. 18 is 鈥淪trengthening Our Practice; Empowering Our Students.鈥 This one-day event includes 20 breakout sessions, conducted by university faculty members; a discussion event with topic-based tables; and free box lunch and coffee stations all day.

Area First Responders Join UCM in Honoring Victims of 9/11

Joined by campus, city and county first responders, members of the 欧美视频 community today honored 2,977 individuals who lost their lives during the worst terrorist attack on United States soil on Sept. 11, 2001. The Moment of Silence event took place on the west side of the university quadrangle amid rows of small U.S. flags placed on the lawn in memory of each person who perished in that incident and are not forgotten.

Recognizing the value of strong professor-student relationships, UCM alumnus Dr. Stephen Lacey and his wife, Ann Lacey, Coppell, Texas, are establishing the John Hess Endowed Chair in Biology or Chemistry for Student Mentorship with a $1 million gift to the 欧美视频 Foundation. An agreement creating this first-ever endowed chair at UCM was signed formally during a recent ceremony at the W.C. Morris Science Building.
