UCM Faculty Member Leads Research Exploring Novel Approach for Determining Cause of Mobile App Crashes
While mobile phone users rely on applications (apps) to complete a number of tasks, these apps are often subject to software bugs that result in crashes which cause them to fail. Thanks to the work of a group of researchers, including one 欧美视频 assistant professor, app developers now have a tool that will help them resolve crash issues with less human effort.

Eighteen Candidates Seek Homecoming Royalty Title
The 欧美视频 annually conducts the Homecoming Royalty competition to select a King and Queen. Nine King candidates and nine Queen candidates are vying for Homecoming Royalty this weekend, with top contestants to be introduced during half-time of the Mules football game Saturday, Oct. 23. Homecoming Royalty will also participate in the parade that begins at 9 a.m. the same day.

Higher Education Advocate Provides $1M Gift for Scholarship at UCM
Although longtime Independence resident Phillip (Phil) B. Roberts only briefly attended the 欧美视频, he has never forgotten the impact the institution had on his life. He recently expressed his appreciation for what his higher education experiences have meant to him, and his desire to help students, through a $1 million gift to the UCM Alumni Foundation.

UCM to Offer New Online Freedom of Information Act Course Beginning Jan. 10
The 欧美视频 will offer a new course focusing on the Freedom of Information Act and how to respond to FOIA requests. The three-hour course, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) course, will be offered online from Jan. 10 through March 4.

Professor Wu Awarded Third Federal Grant to Protect Workers in High-risk Industries from Electric Arc Injuries
WARRENSBURG, MO 鈥� Dr. Miaozong Wu, CSP, ARM, associate professor and program coordinator of the Master of Science in Occupational Safety Management at 欧美视频, was recently awarded a $131,250 grant from the United States Department of Labor (DOL). UCM is the only institution in Missouri to receive funds through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration鈥檚 (OSHA) Susan Harwood Training Grant program. Prior to this new grant, Wu and his team successfully completed two other OSHA Susan Harwood grants between 2019 and 2021.

UCM Plans Record-Setting Attempt for Largest Ridden Parade of Mules
In a year that recognizes many rich traditions, the 欧美视频 is going the extra mile to celebrate its longtime mascot. When visitors attend the 2021 Homecoming festivities, they can watch UCM attempt to achieve a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS鈩� title for the largest ridden parade of mules. An event that annually brings thousands of people to the campus and Warrensburg communities, the Homecoming parade is planned for 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23.

While celebrating Homecoming Week at the 欧美视频, campus members and other interested individuals can celebrate the gift of life by donating blood to the Community Blood Center. Featuring Kansas City Chiefs t-shirt giveaways and opportunities to win prizes, the UCM Homecoming Blood Drive will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 18-19 at the ballroom of the Elliott Student Union.

UCM Honors 2020-2021 Distinguished Alumni During Homecoming
WARRENSBURG, MO 鈥� In recognition of graduates鈥� outstanding achievements, the 欧美视频 will celebrate its 2021 Homecoming with the annual Distinguished Alumni Dinner at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, in the Sandra Temple Elliott Ballroom of the Elliott Student Union. Two individuals will be honored as this year鈥檚 Distinguished Alumni, and five alumni will be recognized as 2020 honorees. Those who register for the dinner (ucmfoundation.org/2021distinguishedalumnidinner) will be able to watch the program via livestream.

Missouri Bicentennial Keynote Lecture on Sectional Tension and Compromise of 1820 Slated for Oct. 16 in Lee's Summit

Muleskinner Adviser Julie Lewis Named Recipient of 2021 Adviser Award
Julie Lewis, assistant instructor of digital media production and faculty adviser for the 欧美视频鈥檚 student-led newspaper, the Muleskinner, is being recognized as one of the College Media Association's 2021 Best Media Advisers in the nation. Lewis was one of three Honor Roll Advisers recognized from four-year institutions.

At least this is one of the hopes of educators who planned and organized the Future Teacher Academy (FTA) at the 欧美视频, an event that brought approximately 450 middle school and high school students and 50 faculty sponsors to UCM.

In celebration of the 1871 founding of the 欧美视频, originally known as State Normal School No. 2, KMOS-TV has produced an in-depth history drawing on official archives, historian interviews, and recollections of current and former university leaders. Narrated by Marion "Woody" Woods (1450 KOKO/98.5 The Bar,) 鈥淢ule Tracks: UCM After 150 Years鈥� details significant events in the evolution of the university鈥檚 academic structure and the growth of the campus. This program will premiere on KMOS-HD channel 6.1 at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19.

欧美视频 Theatre and Dance will present the 2015 Tony Award-winning drama, 鈥淭he Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time.鈥� Based on the best-selling book of the same name written by Mark Haddon and adapted for the stage by Simon Stephens, this play follows a neurodivergent boy as he tries to solve the mystery concerning the death of his neighbor鈥檚 dog.

A designation assuring students that their education meets critical standards to prepare them for the STEM global workforce, the 欧美视频鈥檚 Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering recently received ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accreditation. It is the first program of its kind in Missouri to receive this designation.
