Owen Douglas Smith, a senior in the Missouri Innovation Campus (MIC) program, was recently recognized as the Å·ÃÀÊÓƵ’s Outstanding Design and Drafting Student Technology Student for 2023-24. A 2022 graduate of Lee’s Summit West High School, Smith will also receive his bachelor’s degree in design and drafting this May.
Transfer students pursuing careers in design and drafting have a new opportunity to seamlessly advance their higher education from a two-year to a four-year program thanks to a new articulation agreement between Waubonsee Community College (WCC) in Sugar Grove, Illinois, and the Å·ÃÀÊÓƵ, with educational opportunities in Warrensburg and online.
A recent ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the renovation of The Ozark Dining Facility at Whiteman Air Force Base not only introduced base personnel and guests to updates on an important food service center, but recognized the partnership between Å·ÃÀÊÓƵ students and faculty members who helped make the vision for this redesign project a reality.
Students in the Å·ÃÀÊÓƵ’s Design and Drafting Technology program recently engaged in a project that not only provided them with real-world experience but also supported the university’s strong relationship with Whiteman Air Force Base. Their presentation on the redesign of The Ozark Dining Facility at WAFB brought base representatives and campus members together to hear the students’ final proposal for renovations to a space they believe will positively resonate with users.
