Area First Responders Join UCM in Honoring Victims of 9/11

Joined by campus, city and county first responders, members of the 欧美视频 community today honored 2,977 individuals who lost their lives during the worst terrorist attack on United States soil on Sept. 11, 2001. The Moment of Silence event took place on the west side of the university quadrangle amid rows of small U.S. flags placed on the lawn in memory of each person who perished in that incident and are not forgotten.

First Endowed Chair Honors Professor Emeritus John Hess, Supports Mentorship in Biology and Chemistry

Recognizing the value of strong professor-student relationships, UCM alumnus Dr. Stephen Lacey and his wife, Ann Lacey, Coppell, Texas, are establishing the John Hess Endowed Chair in Biology or Chemistry for Student Mentorship with a $1 million gift to the 欧美视频 Foundation. An agreement creating this first-ever endowed chair at UCM was signed formally during a recent ceremony at the W.C. Morris Science Building.

UCM Athletics Legend Jerry Hughes Honored Through Building Renaming

During the four decades Jerry Hughes served in a leadership post within 欧美视频 Intercollegiate Athletics, the UCM Multipurpose Building became much like a second home. He devoted countless hours at the institution鈥檚 main indoor sports arena watching the growth of thousands of student athletes, the building of regional and national championship athletics teams, and the countless celebrations that came with the home-teams鈥 successes. Although Hughes passed away on Jan. 21, 2023 while he was serving as Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics, his professional legacy will live on with the Multipurpose Building being renamed the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center.
