The Honors College Celebrates Move to Achauer House Aug. 17
With roots that date back to 1958, the 欧美视频 Honors College is celebrating a new milestone in its history with a change in location. The grand opening at the Achauer House, 314 S. Holden St., Warrensburg, is planned for 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, and all members of the university community and other interested individuals are invited to attend.

Missouri Attorney General Grants Community Partnership Award to UCM Public Safety for Role in Helping with SAFE Kit Initiative
The 欧美视频鈥檚 Department of Public Safety was recently recognized by Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt as the recipient of a Community Partner Award. Public Safety was one of more than 650 Missouri entities, including law enforcement and hospitals, to receive this commendation for their vital assistance in completing the Phase II inventory of sexual assault kits with the state鈥檚 SAFE Kit Initiative.

Missouri Safety Center Partners with National Program, KCPD to Offer No-cost Officer Safety Training at Regional Academy in July, August
The Missouri Safety Center at the 欧美视频 is pleased to announce its partnership with the National Law Enforcement Roadway Safety Program (NLERSP) and the Kansas City Police Department to provide no-cost officer safety training to law enforcement professionals at the Kansas City Police Department Regional Police Academy during the months of July and August, 2022. The NLERSP training will provide law enforcement executives, supervisors, trainers, and patrol officers with evidence-based strategies and tactics to improve officer safety during traffic stops, emergency response driving, all-weather driving, and roadway operations.

In an effort to further understanding of the value of making individuals feel welcome, valued and included in higher education, 欧美视频 President Roger Best recently participated in a panel discussion on 鈥淒iversity, Equity Inclusion and Belonging in Advancement Work.鈥� The panel, which also featured Dr. Susan B. Wilson, retired vice chancellor for diversity and inclusion at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and UCM alumna Jessica Ramirez, 鈥�99, vice president of advancement at Cleveland University-Kansas City, took place on June 23 at UMKC.

After honoring a 欧美视频 faculty member in 2021 with the Global National Academic Advisement Association鈥檚 (NACADA) Outstanding Advisor Award, NACADA this year is recognizing both a faculty and staff member with one of its prestigious honors. Matthew J. Garver, Ph.D., is receiving the Global NACADA Outstanding Advisor Award 鈥� Faculty Advising Role, and Jacqueline Faria is being honored with the Global NACADA Outstanding Advisor Award 鈥� Primary Advisor Role.

As a member of a family that produced four generations of 欧美视频 graduates, Ellen Blaize has a lot of appreciation for her alma mater, and sharing her passion for UCM through her work in the Office of Integrated Marketing and Communications is getting noticed. She was recently recognized as the recipient of the 2022 Carl B. Foster/John M. Inglish Prize for Outstanding Achievement and Service in Public Relations.

Stephan Public Service Award from the Executive Committee of the American Legion Missouri Boys State, Inc. on Saturday, June 18, in St. Charles, Missouri. Jennings, whose work and love for public service exemplifies the spirit the award鈥檚 namesake, was honored for his tireless public service to the state and community as well as to the Boys State program.

While these opportunities typically last one semester, Central Bank and the UCM Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies are taking this experience one step further through a new extended, paid internship that is two semesters long, and begins this fall.
