During these challenging economic times, Rolando Salvatierra is grateful for the career
training and job opportunities that have resulted from his participation in the University
of Central Missouri鈥檚 Project Management Professional (PMP) Prep Course.
After completing the 10-week course last fall, Salvatierra went on to pass the rigorous,
industry-recognized PMP Certification Exam during July and landed a job as process
improvement project manager with a top global company.
鈥淒uring my pursuit, I landed a great opportunity with a great company, in charge of
problem solving and aligning projects with company objectives. It is very much connected
with the knowledge obtained through my certification with the skills of project management,鈥
he shared. 鈥淢y life has been changed and improved for me and my family because of
the opportunity provided through this training course. It has allowed me to obtain
a position in a career with endless opportunities within the field of study for a
global company that values and supports their employees鈥 professional growth and development.鈥
A Navy veteran and graduate of the US Naval Academy, Salvatierra enrolled in UCM鈥檚
Project Management Professional course to gain knowledge and diversify his resume
in hopes of opening new career opportunities. The UCM course was instrumental in Salvatierra鈥檚
passing of the PMP Certification exam as well as his successful job search, he added.
鈥淚 couldn't have done it without the foundation built from the PM course offered at
UCM, the enthusiasm and encouragement from James Staffieri (my instructor), the Full
Employment Council who connected me with the course and the countless others/staff
that made the course available and providing a clean, safe learning environment,鈥
Salvatierra said. 鈥淔rom a once unemployed veteran, I really appreciate the opportunity!鈥
UCM Lee鈥檚 Summit will be scheduling additional Project Management Professional Prep
Courses in the future. For more information about this course or other career training
classes, visit the university鈥檚 Center for Workforce and Professional Education website. Financial aid is also available to qualifying adults.
