What you will study

You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy the expertise of multiple universities by completing your Technology Management Ph.D. online or on one of UCM’s campuses in Warrensburg or Lee’s Summit, just 30 to 45 minutes from Kansas City. This allows you to pursue more diverse learning and research opportunities in your chosen area of specialization.

Across all specializations, the Technology Management Ph.D. program includes the following elements:

The consortium format of UCM’s Technology Management Ph.D. program provides unique opportunities to take advantage of a wide range of courses and academic resources. Gain a rich education and the expertise needed to apply it with a program that balances your academic and personal needs: 

  • Take courses from all five universities: By completing your Technology Management Ph.D. online or on campus, you’ll have the opportunity to take courses from five different accredited institutions. Most students will take at least one course from each of the five universities at some point in the doctoral degree program.
  • Overcome the limitations of geography: Avoid uprooting yourself to live near campus by completing the majority of your coursework for UCM’s Technology Management Ph.D. online. You’ll have the option of attending in-person classes if UCM is accessible to you — or you can complete most of your degree entirely from home. 
  • Build a portfolio with an internship: Apply topics discussed in class to real-world scenarios through internships and real-world experiences, and take advantage of opportunities to complete field research on a topic you’re interested in.
  • Network at residencies: Two yearly residencies give you the opportunity to become a part of a community of scholars and network with faculty and staff.
