What you will study

As you prepare to become a math teacher, you鈥檒l begin with in-person classes on our Warrensburg campus. UCM faculty, who all have experience leading middle or junior high classrooms, will provide strategies for educating and engaging students in grades 5 through 9. As you move to a combination of coursework and classroom teaching experience in your sophomore year, they鈥檒l guide you in your professional development and journey to become a competent, caring educator. 

A Math Teacher degree that adds up

As part of your Middle-Junior High School Math Teacher degree, you鈥檒l complete 24 hours of coursework covering all aspects of math. This includes basic algebra, calculus and geometry. 

Prior to your final semester, you鈥檒l take a required course, Strategies in Teaching Middle School Mathematics, which will tie together all you鈥檝e learned in the classroom and the field.
