Transformation (NCAT) that embraces the flipped classroom environment, using class
time for active engagement instead of lectures.
- A course in human physiology in which you鈥檒l observe and collect data from your own
body one week, and then use that data to predict responses in diseased case studies
the next week

Meet Miranda L.
BS Medical Laboratory Science 鈥23
鈥淚 knew that I wanted to be in health care but didn鈥檛 want to be a nurse. The MLS
major stood out to me because I really like the hands-on aspect of trying to find
what鈥檚 wrong with the patient. One of the nice things about going to UCM is all the
student organizations. We come together and talk with each other, see if anyone needs
help with classes they鈥檙e taking, and just make friends.鈥

Marisa James, Program Director for the School of Medical Laboratory Science at North
Kansas City Hospital, says: 鈥淥ther hospitals in Kansas City know when our [UCM program]
students are going to graduate and request their job fliers. They are top notch. I鈥檓
a Central Missouri alumna, so I know they鈥檙e coming from a really good, strong university.鈥
